Across the UK, local councils are rethinking how they power and operate their fleets, prioritising cleaner, more efficient solutions without sacrificing performance.
The IVECO eDaily is proving to be a game-changer in this shift, with two standout electric vehicle projects recently recognised in the 2025 IVECO Mission Awards for their innovation, practicality and environmental benefits.

Maidstone Borough Council has upgraded its grounds maintenance fleet with two IVECO eDaily (42C14e) Beavertail vehicles. These 4.25-tonne electric LCVs feature dual batteries, offering a generous 124-mile range per charge, ideal for the council’s day-to-day tasks without compromising payload or functionality.
The beavertail conversions were a collaborative effort between AKFS and Haynes Trucks to ensure the vans were 100% fit‑for‑purpose. Notable enhancements include a raised tool pod for safe mower blade storage and improved tool and fuel access. The vehicles come backed by IVECO’s 8-year/155,000-mile battery warranty, and were praised by judges as “a well thought out, environmentally friendly package.”

Lewes District Council’s Waste Management team has introduced three IVECO eDaily (42S14e) rubbish collectors into its operations. Each model features a three-battery configuration, delivering a remarkable 186-mile range and sufficient power for the on-board compactor, powered via the vehicle’s ePTO.
The conversions, built by Terberg Matec UK Ltd, prioritised safety, including twin sliding side doors, rear barn doors, axle weighing systems, safety guards and a 360° camera setup. The specification also delivers winter-ready features: heated, adjustable electric mirrors, front fog lights, climate control and a suspended driver’s seat inspired by IVECO’s truck range. Supplying the fleet, Northern Commercials designed the vehicles for 8-year operational use, with judges commending the distinctive bodywork and livery.
Environmental impact: Both finalists underline the way electric fleet solutions can significantly reduce emissions, aligning with Nor Com’s vision of a greener future.
User-centric design: From raised tool pods to advanced safety systems, these conversions exemplify how tailored design meets real-world needs – a philosophy that resonates strongly with Nor Com’s approach.
